Henry Key received land grants totaling 1900 acres here in 1772 and 1774. He died in August 1776 and had 10 children. An 1817 map shows Mrs. P. Key living near the cemetery. She (Phebe Talbert Key)was the widow of Henry Key, Jr.
From Highway SC-283 turn south on Key Road S-33-138/S-33-227 and drive approximately 2 miles. Take US Forest Service gravel road 618 to the right before you pass the old SC DNR work center. The cemetery is at the end of this road to the east. The cemetery is located on Sumter National Forest.
