Add PhotosFred Ickes of Fishertown Bedford Co. PA stated that Henry Ickes was buried in a farm cemetery that has now been destroyed. Fred was the author of two Ickes books that can be ordered from the Bedford County PA Historical Society.
In previous transcription (no year-guess would be somewhere between 1930 & 1950) "on John King Farm, now owned by Potts."
From research of Luther Ickes:
Henry Ickes was born 21 Feb. 1776 married twice.
He was a distiller & owned a farm & distillery at Weyant.
"His wife Cathrin died 27 Nov. 1826 Aged 49 Yrs. 1 Mo. & 9 Ds.
Henry Ickes married a 2nd time to Margaret Clark & their son Joseph was born 17 April 1829.
31 Yrs. later Henry Ickes died 17 Oct. 1860 aged 84 Yrs. 7 Mos. & 26 Ds. He was buried beside Cathrin & their dt. Mary."
This is NOT the OLD ICKES CEMETERY PIGEON HILLS; Kilcoin Farm - Beegle living on it in 1967 in East St. Clair Township, which was transcribed by Imler in 1967.
Tom Imler recorded that cemetery in 1967 listing six memorials stating that there were a number of unmarked graves. It has not been located.
Imler's transcription:
[1.] John Ball 1835[1840]-1911
[2.] Samuel Ickes 1808-1881
[3.] wife Julia Ickes 1814-1881
[4.] Matthias Ickes 1844-1893
[5.] wife Catharine Ickes 1841-1896
[6.] George Ickes 1840-1862
A lot of unmarked stones.
Another Ickes Cemetery transcribed but not found:
This Ickes Cemetery (Ickes Graveyard near Point) in East Saint Clair Township has also NOT been found.
On May 22, 1908 the Bedford Inquirer listed soldiers burials according to township. In East St. Clair Township in Ickes Graveyard near Point were listed:
[1.] George Ickes 138th Pa Infantry
[2.] John Newcomer... War of 1812
Also listed in East St. Clair Township:
Private Graveyard on Earnest Farm:
[1.] Richard Hazlet
So essentially you have three Ickes Cemeteries that DO have transcriptions but have not been located and are either destroyed or lost.
[1.] Henry Ickes Farm Cemetery-Weyant; "on John King Farm, now owned by Potts.": DESTROYED.
[2.] Ickes Graveyard near Point in East Saint Clair Township-listed in newspaper article 1908 listing soldier burials: LOST.
[3.] Old Ickes Cemetery Pigeon Hills; Kilcoin Farm - Beegle living on it in 1967-Imler transcription. LOST.
