I visited the cemetery in 2014 because this was the original land of my ancestors. I believe this is the final resting place for my Revolutionary War ancestor, my 2nd Great-Grandfather Burt Moore b. 1756 Halifax, VA d. 1836 Pickens Co., S.C.
On 12 March 1804 Burt Moore purchased 128 acres on both sides of the Eastatoe Creek for $600.00. Eventually Burt owned 735 acres which he willed to his youngest son Hugh Moore. In 1850 Hugh Moore sold the land to Abraham Stewart who died in 1857. His sons, A.J. and W.K. Stewart purchased the land from the estate. A.J. obtained the acreage which was called the homeplace. A. J. died in 1877, but his wife and children continued to live on the land. One of his youngest sons was Reuben Jackson Stewart. Later all of this land was divided. According to living relatives and deeds, Lee W. and Delomia Stewart Stansell was one of the last family owners. While living on the homeplace they had at least 2 children who died and are believed to be buried in the cemetery. Fieldstone marked graves indicate several adults, children, and babies are buried there. There are approximately 20 graves that are marked with field-stones, but numerous trees have grown up in the cemetery.
