There is a roadside historical plaque on Fleming Line at Broken Front Farm. The text reads:
"[seal of Municipality of Aldborough]
FLEMING SETTLEMENT 1796
James Fleming, 1760-1838, native of Londonderry, Ireland, and his wife, Barbara Windecker, 1774-1862, native of New York State, settled on Lot 6, Broken Front, Township of Aldborough, in 1796 and thus became the first permanent European settlers in Elgin County. This property as well as land directly across the Thames remained under Fleming family ownership until 1871."
Full cemetery description, history and transcriptions at
The book, "Aldborough, The Township with a Past" (2001, Harley Lashbrook), page 81, says that there were 15 burials. Not all can be identified from the existing monuments, many of which are broken. More photos of the cemetery (taken about 2006) can be seen at - Fleming Cemetery at "Field of Stones" website.
[The at 695 Longwoods Road is almost directly opposite, north across the Thames. Any monuments there for Fleming burials no longer exist.]
