The Captain Constantine Llufrio Lot - North Kingstown #93
Location:
Near intersection of Esmond and Ocean Avenues on lawn of #32 Esmond, across from boatyard. This burial ground was originally 100' by 100' and virtually destroyed in the 1938 hurricane. Only two graves remain.
Infant daughter of Constntine and Elizabeth Llufrio, b. and d. Apr. 26, 1821.
Infant son of Contantine and Elizabeth Llufrio, b. d. Oct 8, 1828. FS-1828
Harris recorded this yard on May 1, 1881, calling it overrun with brier and locust.
Capt. Constantine Llufrio, b. St. Augustine, Aug 9, 1787, lost at sea Jun. 7, 1832, 45th year
Infant son of Constantine and Elizabeth Llufrio, b. and d. Jan. 17, 1817.
Albert G. Wall, d. Sep 10, 1820, 1y, 2m, 10d
Also 20 other graves much scattered.
Notes:
According to North Kingstown, RI records, Capt. Constantine Llufrio was a native of the "Kingdom of Spain" who came to the United States first to Baltimore and then to North Kingstown in 1805. Capt. Llufrio was owner and master of at least three vessels engaged in fishing and the coastal trade. These were the "industry", the schooners "General Hamilton", and the "Elizabeth and John". This last ship was surrendered at Baltimore in 1828. It is uncertain what ship he was on when he was lost in 1832.
