Identified as "Keaster" from secondary information in the obituary of William Henry Thomas (whose headstone is located in this cemetery), which was published in a Helena, MT newspaper.
Additional research in a regional history, "Trails and Tales of the Highwoods", substantiates that reference. Quoted from page 19: "On a slight incline, at the lower end of the Walter Keaster Ranch on Highwood Creek, is a cemetery. In it are buried Mr. & Mrs. Parker, Ernest Parker, a baby Ernest Parker, Hank (sic) Smith, Mr. and Mrs. William Gray, the Boyle baby first child of Charles Boyle, Mr. William Thomas, Mr. James Stephens, Mr. Stephen's daughter Cora Williams. The site of the cemetery on the Walter Keaster ranch was the location of the first school in the valley. The log building was moved to the foot of the Buckland Hill, according to a statement of some old timers."
Thanks to FAG researchers "cara" and "Leta Knauss"
Inquiries are ongoing for further information.
Thanks to Janis, relative of "Yank" Smith for information and corrections. She notes the cemetery was called "Parker-Thane Cemetery".
Please email Penny Jo through FAG if you have any other information. Thanks.
