In 2012, the cemetery was found out in a cow pasture on a farm in Washington Co., AR, that was once owned by Harlen Harp. His Stone family tie is through Wesley Stone, brother of John Dudley Stone. The farm is just west of the intersection of Campbell Ln. & Yates Dr. near Springdale, AR. Evidence of the cemetery is all but gone now.
John Dudley Stone did not own the land that the cemetery is on. His property was just north, across White River, from the cemetery. At some point in the 1900s, the cemetery land became known as the old "Campbell farm." Land records show that Truman "T. C." Campbell bought the land in 1919. In 1969, Harlen Harp and his wife, Truman's daughter, bought it from her father and they lived on it until it eventually went to their heirs to farm. In 2012, one of their sons was farming it.
While John Dudley is thought to be buried here, in 2012 there was no proof to confirm that. There were only 2 tombstone tops for the following people, and they had broken from their bases. The location of their bases is unknown.
1. Luelza Stone (John Dudley's wife). It had been removed from the main cemetery area and was leaning up against a tree near the house, about 250' from the cemetery area.
2. One partial stone, broken into two pieces, of a son of John & Luelza (probably William H.). It was found in the main cemetery area.
In the cemetery area were also found 2 footstones: "L S" and "WH S" which are presumed to be for Luelza & William H. Other than these items, the only other remnants found were 2 different bases for tombstones, and their top parts were completely missing. It is unknown whose graves they mark but based on their size it can be said that neither base fits Luelza or William H.'s tombstone top.
There are probably more tombstones, perhaps even John Dudley's, out in that pasture buried under the decades of dirt and grass that are covering them up.
