The cemetery chapel erected in 1847, was demolished in 1954. The blue brick gate lodge, designed by Hamilton & Medland and built in 1847-8, still survives. The cemetery was originally reserved for Church of England members, whereas Key Hill Cemetery (opened in 1836) was non-denominational and was therefore favoured by non-conformists.
Warstone Lane Cemetery contains 51 First World War burials and 14 from the Second World War. A Screen Wall commemorates those whose graves are not marked by headstones.
A comprehensive list of memorial inscriptions is being prepared by The Jewellery Quarter Research Group, to be published on its website. A campaign group, The Friends of Key Hill and Warstone Lane Cemeteries, seeks to preserve and protect the cemetery.
Established in 1848. Closed in 1982. The cemetery includes the re-interred remains of those previously buried at Christ Church Churchyard (1897), St. Mary's Churchyard, Whittall Street (1927,1952,1953) and St. Thomas Churchyard, Bath Row (1953).
