Hay Burial Grounds
Brothersvalley Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, USA
Located in Brothersvalley Township, Somerset County, PA. From Berlin take US Route 219 (Broadway Street) south out of town. Just at the borough line turn right onto Meyers Road and proceed for 9/10 mile. Meyers Road only goes for about one block before it becomes Fairview Road. At the 9/10 mile mark where Fairview Road makes a sharp right, continue straight along the dirt lane and travel for 4/10 mile back to the last farm. The cemetery is situated about 200 meters south of the barn, in the second field, and in a grove of trees that are at the edge of a ravine.
NOTE: This is private property and permission should be obtained first before entering the property. This site is full of groundhog holes and piles of dirt from these holes which are most likely covering some of these stones after possibly being toppled. This site was recorded in the past as having 7 adult graves that were not inscribed. In the 1930's it was recorded that a large maple tree was growing over 3 of these adult graves. I found two of these three graves during this visit which are marked by unmarked fieldstones.
