From the plaque:
A heritage cemetery in the City of Brampton
The history of this burial ground is very obscure. Seemingly in use during the mid 1800's this was once described as the "Old Grahamsville Cemetery". A Wesleyan Methodist church, which was dismantled about 1869, and Chingcuacousy school house No. 24 have both stood on this site.
The family names of the people who are resting here are: Burgess, Burkholder, Cunnington, Ewing, Lindsay, Mercer, Ramage, Stoddart, and Willcox
*Not to be confused with the Grahamsville (United Church) Cemetery on Airport Road
William Perkins Bull states that the section of land where the cemetery is was "level fertile clay, bank barn and brick house, Blink Creek on the south corner and watered by wells, with Old Grahamsville Cemetery on the south corner. It is in deplorable condition -- tombstones falling and fenced off by a wire fence. School Section # 24, known as Hopkins School stood on this west half which at one time was used as a Wesleyan Methodist church, torn down about 1869." The church, therefore does not show on the 1877 atlas, though the cemetery does." The school was used for church services before Grahamsville Shiloh Wesleyan Methodist Church was erected and the cemetery was most likely in use between 1837 and 1859, but was never officially a burying ground. When the City of Brampton took over the cemetery in the 1970s all remaining gravestones were removed, cleaned up and placed in a cairn on the site.
