I feel certain this is the cemetery where my 4th great grandparents were buried. (Peter and Rachel May) My grandfather owned 240 acres in Indian Crk Twp, including the SW 1/4 of section 13 and the east half of the SE 1/4 of section 14. I was told the "Old Cedar Graveyard" was on his property or right next to it.
He and his wife were buried there and I presumed their teenage daughter who predeceased them. My grandfather who was raised on what was left of the May farm remembered no carved stones, but only fieldstone slabs and cedar trees to mark the graves. A few years ago however a carved stone was found with the name Phebe May. Given the date we believe this is the unnamed teenage daughter who disappeared from the census records about the same time.
To my knowledge there was never a family in the area named Cedar. My grandfather always called the cemetery "Old Cedar Graveyard" or the "May graveyard", but I always assumed he was referring to the cedar trees, not to a family. There were no Colmans or Colemans on any area census before 1900. However I believe they might have owned the land when the WPA survey was taken.
