Cemetery was probably set up for 40 burials because there are 4 rows and approximate room for 10 burials per row. This cemetery has recently been cleared and a new fence erected. From where the new gate is now, there are 3 rows of stones. There are several field stones with no names on them. (April 2011)
Info from Christie Bennett:
The farm was owned by Nicholas McCubbin before Charles Walker owned it. There are deeds tracing the land from the present all the way back to the beginning of Green Co. In the "Nicholas McCubbin" book, written by Gleason McCubbin, it says Nicholas was "buried on the hill, across the field in front of the house, and laid by the side of his Betsey." Before Nicholas died, his youngest son, William and his wife, Jane, were living with him to care for him in his old age. Nicholas left William his farm in his Will that was recorded in 1855.
In 1857, Charles H. Walker bought the farm from William and Jane McCubbin, and the deed stated 1/4 acre of land was reserved for the burial ground. In 1890, when Charles Walker's heirs sold the farm to E. V. Elmore, the deed reserved 1/2 acre of land including the graveyard for a burying ground. The Green Co. Library has a copy of this book, but they keep it locked up, you have to ask for it.
