One of the Founders of the Christian Church at
Sweet Valley died early Saturday morning Nov.10 1934 at his home in that place following a lingering illness
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 with services in Maple Grove Church at Pikes Creek.
Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
Mr.Smith was born at Trucksville January 12 1849,son of the late Charles & Elizabeth Atherholt Smith.Shortley before his marriage,about 60 years ago,he acquired a farm at Loyalville in Lake Twp.In 1902 he moved to another farm at Sweet Valley,living on it for the remainder of his life
Mr. Smith donated two acres of land for the site of the Sweet Valley(Pleasant Hill)Christian Church & Cemetery.
The original church a wooden structure,which was destroyed by fire eight years ago was replaced by a brick building on Main Road,Sweet Valley.
Surviving are his wife,& three children,Chauncey of Alderson,Mrs.Frank Lewis of Sweet Valley,& Charles of Loyalville.He also leaves six grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren.
