Add PhotosThis small family graveyard was virtually destroyed several years ago by a storm moving through Henry County. In 2013, the surviving three great-great-granddaughters of John Patterson and Martha Haymes restored the cemetery, repaired the tombstones, and placed an iron fence around the stones.
The Parker family who owns the land surrounding the graveyard must be credited for their generosity and time devoted to maintaining the cemetery and willingness to assist in its upkeep.
A memorial stone was added in 2013 for William D. Patterson, son of John and Martha, who died as a Confederate soldier at the Battle of Shiloh. A small ceremony was sponsored by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Agnes Lee Chapter 434 of Decatur, GA dedicating his stone.
From the intersection of Manleyville Rd. & TN-69A, in Springville, travel south on Manleyville Rd. for 0.9 mi., turning west (right) into a private driveway, going about 200 yards to this small family cemetery, within a fence, on the north (right) side of the driveway, as notated on USGS topo maps.
