Bruton-Cox Graves

Take SH 22 west out of Cranfills Gap heading toward Hamilton. Almost exactly one-half mile west of the junction of Farm Road 219 and SH 22, there is an entrance gate on the right to property owned by Rodney Joy. The entrance gate is about 100 yards across SH 22 from Cranfills Gap Cemetery in Hamilton County. Mr. Joy found the graves which were considered bulldozed and "lost" at one time. He has fenced off the area. The site is located just east of a small creek and among trees fairly close to the property line. Just across the fence is the old town site of Cranfills Gap, which straddles the county line between Bosque County and Hamilton County. It was reported that at one time 5-10 people were buried here, but the only markers that remain are of Mr. Bruton and Mr. Cox. This site is on private property and visitors would need permission and a guide to the site.
