February 26, 1845, Isaac and Sarah George sold one acre of their property in the SE corner of the NW quarter of Section 19 in Dundee Township to twenty one people for $10.00. The Grantees were (in order of appearance and spelled as they appeared in the deed): Whiting Hull, Geo. Aldrich, Samuel Nott, Wm. Hudson, Walter Houston, Wm. Bradley, David Mason, J.M. Payton, Jenette Thompson, Lawson McCloud, Albro Gilbert, Horace Barber, Ananias Aldrich, Lorenzo Aldrich, Stanley Sherman, Marshall Sherman, Moses Wanzer, David Rankins, Wm. Rankins, John Rankins and Chancey Cochran.
Adin Mann, the first Kane County surveyor, platted the cemetery and the map was included in the deed. Each person was assigned three lots except for Horace Barber who was assigned one lot. Isaac and Sarah George reserved three lots for themselves.
The cemetery was referred to as the "burying ground" in the deed. In later years a Fred Schroeder lived on the property adjacent to the cemetery and it is thought that the name of Schroeder was acquired at that time.
The cemetery now abuts a large commercial development. October 20, 2008, Green Mile Enterprises, Inc. purchased the cemetery by Quit Claim Deed.
It is believed that a number of interments remain on the one acre cemetery property.
