Mark and Rebecca Ray's graves are on what was their farm and what was at that time in Monroe County, but is now in Lamar County. The land was sold after Mark Ray died in 1848, but his house remained there until about 1989 when it was torn down. The graves are about 100 yards off Highway 36 East behind a double wide manufactured home. The area is pretty overgrown, but Gwen Moore has been back there. The rock wall that Mark mentioned in his will is still around the graves and the brick arches that he wanted over the graves have collasped, but there is still evidence that they were there. The DAR has once again accepted that Mark was a Revolutionary War Soldier and hopefully they will mark the graves. The DAR is going to put a marker in Barnesville, Georgia recognizing him and several other area Revolutionary War soldiers (from Gwen Moore)
