Concession 6, Lot 1
east side of Winston Churchill Blvd., Brampton, Peel, Ontario - south of # 8175
Zion Methodist Church was located in the cemetery, occupying the front of the cemetery property and slightly to the north of the center line. In 1867 a new log and frame church was built on this site (as part of the Brampton Circuit) known as Mount Zion Methodist Church. The church building was closed in 1905 and on December 3, 1918 the church and its contents were sold at public auction. The church proper was purchased by Robert J. Whaley, who in turn sold it to Jack Fraser Harms of Huttonville. Through the foresight of the Whaley Family, the cornerstones of the 2nd and 3rd church (1867) were saved.
In 1980/81 a cemetery restoration project was undertaken by the City of Brampton Parks Department. In 1983 a cairn was erected to the memory of area pioneers, and the Mount Zion Methodist cornerstone was laid at the foot of the cairn.
