There are three distinct cemeteries located at this site. Union Chapel Cemetery is located in a fenced area immediately behind the church building. The second fenced in area is known as the Mainer-Fisher Cemetery. The third fenced in area is known as the Moore Cemetery. Many of the pre-1960 graves in the second and third cemeteries will list Union Chapel as the place of burial.
The partially fenced cemetery is located on the side and back of the church. There are two private family cemeteries immediately to the north. On the church property there are some graves marked with old fieldstones. Oral tradition says this originally was the old Fox family graveyard... The first family known to have lived in that area and at the foot of the mountain now known as Hamburg was that of Allen Fox who moved here from Burke Coutny, NC between 1810 and 1820."
