Early undertaker records speak of three cemeteries in Burkesville with burials of black people: Grundy Chapel, Burkesville Baptist, and Odd Fellows Cemeteries. Older citizens believe that as the years progressed and burials increased, the lines between the cemeteries became less defined until finally there is one cemetery, now known as Grundy Chapel Cemetery.
