Green Spring Church called by Doctor John Philip Getter (who took the picture October 1930) the little "Green Spring Bethel". He wrote "the old church looks natural but most the woods and trees nearby are gone, but there is a good road passing by which you can see in the picture. This is where most of us (the Philip Getter family) went to S.S. (Sunday School) and a whole book might be written of things that we know happened here." He also wrote "The cedar tree was planted at the head of of the grave of our brother Daniel (See Daniel C. Getter grave at Find a Grave.com). I remember as well as if it had only been a short time ago of holding the tree while Pa tramped the ground around the roots and that he cried and I thought it so odd for him to do so as he seldon cried."
