Directions:
Go to where US 40 meets US 75, which is about one mile west of Stilesville or about ten miles east of the intersection of US 231 and US 40. Go west of this intersection on US 40 about ¼ mile to a small red barn on the south side of the road. Follow the lane south of the barn across a small stream. After you cross the stream, the lane will go east about 50 yards, maybe a little less, then turn south. Follow the fence south about 100-200 yards. There will be a small copse of older hackberry trees in the fencerow. There are several older stones lying on the ground under these trees, on the west side of the fence. A hand held GPS devise would be a big help in finding this cemetery.
Condition: Poor
There are at least three stones piled up in a fencerow. One stone is in good condition, but the other two have been broken up. I was able to locate several fragments, which appear to fit one or the other of the two broken stones. Some information is missing from the stones, so there are probably more fragments around. There are several mature hackberry trees in the fence near the stones. These trees will probably start losing their limbs in the years to come, but they are not a real threat to the stones as long as we leave the stones laying face down on the ground. If the stones are to be reset, the trees need to be cut.
