In 1825, the Trustees of the New Providence Congregation purchased from Elisha Bell, a four acre plot and built their church there. The church has long since been disbanded and the building no longer stands. The cemetery was used for at least ninety-five years by some of the community's earliest settlers. The earliest grave dates back to 1826 and the last one was in 1911. Many of the graves have been lost but all need care and repair. Many stones are lost in the underbrush which covers the entire cemetery.
