Elam Family Cemetery
Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, USA
It is also rumored that when 175 was widened several of the graves were relocated to other area cemeteries.
I have conflicting information as to the whereabouts of where this lost cemetery may have been. There are two possible locations both within a mile of each other. Both locations are located on the Jesse Elam grant or bordering it.
One is north of 175. According to information posted by Helen Cox, it is #58 on Dallas area cemetery map. It is in the pie shaped piece of land bordered by Highway 175 and Jim Miller road off Annabelle Lane. Tall Cypress trees mark its location.
The second location is close to the intersection of Jim Miller and Elam Road. This location seems to be more likely. Will have to do some more research on this.
0.25 mile East of Jim Miller Road & Elam, North side of Elam on the creek. Across from Comstock Middle School, South of Grove Haven Church. (Source: Google Maps)
Special Note: Comstock Middle School is actually north of this intersection on Jim Miller Road. There are two churches located across the street from Comstock Middle School, neither of them named Grove Haven Church. Grove Haven Church is located well north of Highway 175 off of Ridgewood Drive and Sara Lee Drive. Having visited this area, the creek runs under Elam road about 1/4 mile east on Elam Road from the intersection of Jim Miller and Elam. There is a house located on the lot west of the creek and an empty lot directly east of the creek.
