This is on the Marker at the Entrance of the Cemetery
The Jonothan Smythe Bralley Family moved from Virginia to Greene County Missouri to James River near Galloway about 1835. They moved about 1845 to Finley Falls area. There are supposedly 22 graves, but the only gravestones are on four Civil War Soldier's graves that were provided by the government. Therefore, it is known as a Civil War Cemetery. Some 12 to 15 graves are marked with fieldstones. The cemetery is about 50 square feet. There is at least one child buried here by the name of Alberta Cornelison. There are four steel posts around the grave. One of the Civil War stones has the last name misspelled with a "w". The story goes that the family received word of the boy's deaths in the battle of Rolla Missouri and sent a wagon to pick them up. Someone else at the battle was already being them home passing the family wagon which returned empty. They were prepared for burial when the family arrived home. According to the information in the Webster County books, Possibly Margaret Bralley and a Cornelison women are also buried here. If more information is desired, it may be found at the Seymour Museum. This marker is due to the efforts of the following descendants:
Dean and Eleanor Holcomb Family. Dean is a Great Great Grandson of Jonothan Bralley.
Edwin M. Hailey Family. Edwin is a Great Great Grandson of Jonothan Bralley.
Helen Lamb and the staff of the Seymour Museum.
This Marker was installed in 2010.
