The Indian Mound Cemetery, located near the Martin place on old highway 165 on Columbia Eastside, is also on of the oldest cemeteries in the Parish, first used by the Indians, later by the French settlement once located near there, and still later by settlers here. Many local residents are of the opinion that Indian Mound has been used much earlier than the old Danish Cemetery, but there are no markers to substantiate that belief. Last burial made there was in 1938.
