Oak Grove Baptist Church is located at 691 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23457 and the telephone number is 757-426-2782. The church is in the rural southern section of BackBay/Creeds in Virginia Beach in what was formerly Princess Anne County. Oak Grove Baptist Church is one of the oldest churches in the state of Virginia, having been established in August of 1762 under the name of Pungo Church. The location of the church was moved within the Pungo area, perhaps several times, before its present location was acquired in 1853. The church name was changed to Oak Grove Baptist Church in May of 1855 because of the grove of red and white oaks that surrounded the church building. During the Civil War Federal troops in the area used the church building to stable their horses. The church building, originally a white frame building, has in recent years been bricked over but the original frame building still stands behind the bricking. Over its long and colorful history, Oak Grove Baptist has been responsible for organizing five local daughter churches: Blackwater Baptist (1774), London Bridge Baptist (1784), St. John's Baptist (1853), Little Piney Grove Baptist (1870), and Knotts Island Baptist (1876). Interestingly, Little Piney Grove Baptist was established for and by the former slaves who had been members at Oak Grove Baptist prior to their acquiring their freedom in the Civil War and is still an active congregation today.

This graveyard is located immediately behind the church building. It is very well maintained and is surrounded by recreation areas, a farm field immediately behind it and Pungo Ferry Road on it's other border. It is still in active use.
