Taken 5 March 2009. This photo shows the road back into the cemetery. The Old Township Section is to the left of it & the 5th addition to the right. The 4th addition is behind the 5th addition.

Taken 5 March 2009 - I was standing by the cemetery sign, aiming to the left when taking this picture. Fairfield Cemetery is divided up into different additions. Shown here is the front of the 2nd addition & the Old Township Cemetery. (The first addition is small & behind the Old Township Cemetery.) I think the cemetery will expand in later years & what is now empty will be the 7th addition.

Memorial Day 2009

The Fairfield Center Cemetery came into existence about December 1846. The first part contained one acre, and belonged to Fairfield township. In 1892, there was a one-half acre added to the east side.
An association was formed known as the Fairfield Center Association. They supervised the platting and selling of the lots. In October 1895 one acre was added on the east. About one half of it is sold.
This is a very beautiful cemetery and is well kept. Many costly monuments mark the resting places of many pioneers who suffered in the hardships of the clearing up of our county.
This first interment made here was for Byron Thomas Crossley, aged 24 years.
