Doris Jeffery Yancey, 80, of Blackfoot, died Nov. 6, 2007, at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls.
She was born May 14, 1927, in Idaho Falls, to Walter Dale Jeffery and Alice Bolton
Humpherys Jeffery. She grew up in
the Rigby area and graduated from Roberts
High School. She attended Brigham Young University and Idaho State University.
On June 28, 1951, she married Jesse T. Yancey in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She taught at Blackfoot High School.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in stake Primary, MIA and Relief Society; taught Gospel Doctrine; and directed stake sports and camp activities. Doris served a work mission with her husband and young family from 1964 to 1966 in Chile, where they built LDS chapels in Concepcion, Valparaiso and Vina del Mar.
Survivors include children, Paul (Serena) Yancey of Blackfoot, Christine (Marlin) Neilson of Salt Lake City and Beth (Jeff) Schmidt of Coeur d'Alene; sisters, Vera Jackson of Idaho Falls and Verna (Hyrum) Bell of Burley; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Stephen Yancey; and brother, Merle Dale Jeffery.
Funeral services will be
at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Blackfoot 4th Ward, 520 N. Shilling Ave. The family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., and for one hour prior to services at the church.
Burial will be in Groveland Cemetery.
