Gladys Lenora Phillips was born in Lee's Community, TX, the 8th child of John Jay Phillips and Lora Ethel (Ballard) Phillips and was named after her aunt Lenora Phillips. She was a Graduate of San Angelo Beauty School and was a beautician in San Angelo for many years. She married Jesse Doyle Yancey, April 13, 1940 in Paint Rock, Concho Co.,TX. She actively worked with Girl Scouts and the PTA. In her later years she was a member of the Grandmother's Club and a member of Grace Methodist Church in Texas City, TX. Gladys enjoyed being a homemaker and enjoyed knitting, crochet and needle point hand work. Gladys was the mother of two children:
