Center Plains Cemetery

Lillian Lorene Barrington McFerrin was born to Marcus Elijah Barrington and Lena Lorene White Barrington in Hale Center, Texas. They are buried in Plainview,Texas. She started school in Cotton Center the first year they opened the school. She was the pianist along with her sister for the Cotton Center Baptist Church until they bought an organ then she took over the duties of playing the organ while her sister stayed with the piano and both of them, Mary Lou Applewhite and herself, played the instruments, giving 40 years of service to the church. She was a dedicated mother and wife and also shared her love of music with the children of Cotton Center for many years with musicals and other performances. I was her first granchild and can say she was a great cook! When her husband ended up blind from a farming accident in 1963, she took care of him, even though he didn't need much... She ended up passing away at home (where she wanted to be) after losing her husband in 1992. She is greatly missed.
