Only child of Jerry C. Gaard(son of Conrad A. Gaard and Seraphine G. Larson), and Alanna J. Henke(daughter of Alfred J. Henke and Jeniece F. Sims).
Born on August 28, 1967, Colorado Springs, CO.
Attended Widefield Elementary School, Sproul Junior High School, and Widefield High School(Honor Graduate - Class of 1985).
Attended Colorado State University from 1985 to 1986(Physics major-three semesters) and Pikes Peak Community College in 1987(One semester-Credits for USAF advancement).
Served in the United States Air Force from 1987 to 1991. Basic training squadron 3703 BMTS at Lackland AFB, TX in 1987. Attended Technical school under 3753rd STUS, for Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory(PMEL), AFSC 324X0, (Honor Graduate) at Lowry AFB, CO from 1987 to 1988. Was stationed at Hickam AFB, HI and assigned to the 15 CAMS, PMEL, with K3/K4 equipment as priority. Obtained an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Electronic Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force. Achieved rank of Sergeant, E-4. Member of the Hickam AFB varsity bowling team that won the 1989(held at Osan AB) and 1990(held at Kadena AB) PACAF bowling championships. Served briefly in the USAFR, under the 302nd TAW, as a C-130 E/H Aircraft Dock Inspection Technician at Peterson AFB, CO after completing two aircraft technical schools(Honor Graduate) at Sheppard AFB, TX. Achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, E-5. Received Honorable Discharge. Proud to be an United States Air Force veteran.
Attended University of Colorado at Colorado Springs from 1992 to 1993(Math major-two semesters).
Worked at Colorado Springs International Speedway(Ticket taker-Colorado Springs, CO), Long John Silvers(Widefield, CO), TRW, Inc.(Assembler-Colorado Springs, CO), Lifetouch(Equipment technician-Bloomington, MN), Nguyen Electronics, Inc.(Technician/Assembler-Blaine, MN), National Calibration and Testing Laboratories(Metrologist/Repair technician-Golden Valley, MN), Robins AFB PMEL(Metrologist-Warner Robins, GA), Northrop Grumman(Metrologist-Warner Robins, GA).
Proud to be part of the 'Gaard-Larson-Thompson-Anderson-Sjursdatter-Thompson(Flottre)-Tenold-Nelson' and 'Henke-Sims-Holcombe-Essman-Putzke-Doane-Thurston-Teet' lineage.
Possible descendent of 1620 'Mayflower' passengers Stephen Hopkins, Edward Fuller, Elder William Brewster III, and Thomas Rogers.
Summer of 2023, took a road trip to visit ancestors final resting places in Nebraska and Minnesota.
I greatly appreciate all those that digitized the official paper documents to make genealogy possible.
My last wishes will be to donate organs, to be cremated, have a simple urn, and be put in an above ground columbarium at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery. Per the 'Department of Veterans Affairs, National Cemetery Administration', December 4, 2023, '...in advance of need.', '...you are eligible for burial in a VA national cemetery.'
