I have two, quite distinct, pre-Revolutionary threads in my family story: the Parsons line came to the Mass. Bay Colony in 1635 and then the Witherspoons came to SC from Scotland, via Northern Ireland, in the 1740s. Both were long-literate and fairly well documented.
