I get that 'some' may think I am a 'newb' here, but I am not, was active for a few years, got totally out of it and then was drawn back.
What I do not understand is WHY some choose to be 'collectors' instead of actually doing something with the ones that they have, IF they are not family but in an area where many of my family are, I dig into the family and see who connects to who. I do this to connect families. I work very hard on my 'due diligence' to make sure I have connected them correctly. One really can't do that when they manage 41,000 or 70,000 memorials... they are 'collectors', nothing more...
I am Very much into my family ancestry, have been working on it for decades.. I attempt to always tell the story of the person that I am working on. Connecting children with parents always brings me joy! I feel that everyone needs the family around them and if at all possible a picture of them... to tell some of their story.
Most that I manage is in some form a relative, those that I make suggestions for are either relatives or people I knew growing up and they still mean something to me... a teacher, a farmer friend, in some capacity they touched my life or are a very distant shirt tail relative....
