Bio

I am interested in the research of my ancestors, the Owen and McCall families from Transylvania County, NC, the early pioneers of Balsam Grove and surrounding areas. So much history in those mountains, from farming, logging, working for the Vanderbilts, and living among the Cherokee. Also the Gardner and Reeves families from Greenville and Spartanburg Counties of SC.
I also find great interest, and have spent a lot of time doing research in my wife's family ancestry which includes the Stewart, Cantrell, Gilstrap, Chastain, Galloway, and Glazener families of Pickens and Oconee Counties in SC, as well as the Lewis and Lynch families. (Yes, a lot of family history in those names. Many pioneers in the establishment of the early Eastatoe Township area, amidst the mountains and rivers, from Table Rock, the Keowee River basin, to the villages of Tamassee).
I enjoy finding old family cemetery plots, lost cemeteries, discovering names and dates on old weathered field stones, solving mysteries, visiting graves of war heroes and veterans, especially those who are my Revolutionary and Civil War ancestors!!.
I am proud of my ancestor's, and their marks in history. Therefore, I strive to keep my families connected, beyond death, so they are never forgotten!!
