Bio

I am an avid student of my family genealogy (Thayer and Spencer). I started my research about 40 years ago kindled by my Mom’s interest and a visit to the National Archives where I read about my great grandfather’s (James Spencer) Civil War enlistment as a Union soldier from Michigan and his capture and detainment in Confederate prison until the end of the war. That bit of research lit the fire for family research which only in the last 10 years has burned brighter.

I especially enjoy helping others in their pursuits into their ancestry. One way of doing this is as a member of Find A Grave. I enjoy the challenge of searching a cemetery to satisfy requests for gravestone photos. It serves as a means of connecting with my roots through others.
