I've always loved cemeteries. To me they are sacred, beautiful places that can envoke peace and healing. I grew up being told stories by my parents from their childhoods, when it was a more regular custom to regularly visit loved ones that had passed on, spending time pruning/beautifying their plots, and just spending time with them to still feel connected in a way. This just doesn't happen anymore, at least I don't see it amongst my generation. Most of my paternal family is scatted around metro Detroit area cemeteries, and my maternal family members were laid to rest in the upper peninsula. My main interest in being on here is to update the profiles for my deceased ancestors, to keep up with them regularly so they know they have not be forgotten.
