I am a novice genealogist. The many branches of my family include the surnames Stimmel, Eisenhard, Hetrick, Sheierer, Hersch, Stalbird, Breymeier, Eck and Weston. My extended branches include the Martin, Steiger, Cunfer, Snyder, Mitchell, Thergesen, Covey and Webster families. Most were, at some point in time, located in a handful of counties in Pennsylvania.

My *Honor Project*

I was born, raised and still live in the Lehigh Valley. Back then, it was 'the AEB area'. In March 2021, while researching archived obituaries for a family member intered overseas, I came across an article entitled "Lehigh Co. War Dead Since Dec. 7, 1941". I later found an article entitled "Northampton County War Dead Since Dec. 7, 1941". I recognized so many of the surnames. I began searching for their memorials on FindAGrave. As I began looking up names, I noticed several of the memorials had little information except "entered service from Pennsylvania". No family members connected. Not even a birth date. That broke my heart.

These lists contain more than one thousand service members from Lehigh and Northampton Counties that gave their lives for their country. I wanted to honor them by linking them to their immediate family members (spouses/children, parents and siblings/spouses). And so my Honor Project began. One by one, I am going through the list, making sure they are connected with their loved ones. It is my way of looking forward.
