My avocation is the history of the Jews of Lancaster, PA. My specialty is Congregation Shaarai Shomayim and its cemetery that dates back to 1747. I have done a complete census of the cemetery in 1970's and have recently updated it. I intend to enter my census into Findagrave. I see that others have added some of the burials. I have records of the burials that are unmarked or tombstones that can no longer be read. I hope to add pictures, relationships etc. I am retired and have the time. I am a 5th generation Lancastrian of the Jewish faith and author of the book The Jews of Lancaster, Pennsylvania A Story with Two Beginnings published in 1979.
