Bio

I am the granddaughter of Juan Bautista and Ignacita (Benavidez) Ortega. Daughter of David and Elisa (Andrada) Ortega. My family contributed to building the Capilla de Santo Nino de Atocha in 1933. We continue the tradition of a Funcion each year since the Capilla was built. The reason for the building of the Capilla was my grandfather, Juan had a growth on the back of his head. They had seen a statue of the Santo Nino De Atocha and they promised to build the Capilla to honor the Santo Nino if he was healed. Miraculously, he was healed and that is why the Capilla stands today. Juan, his wife Ignacita, my father and mother, David, Elisa, Sister, Rebecca, Brother, David Jr.,(Ortega) are buried here. Also, my sister, Delia Ortiz, her granddaughter, Heather Salazar, my niece, Laura Lee Enright, my grand nephew, Joey Portillo and my grandson, of two years, Alexander Xavier Gallegos are buried here. Also, my mother's father Jose Brigido Andrada. Plus numerous other family members. We also plan to be buried in this sacred, holy ground. My father loved La Manga and we now know why, it is such a beautiful, peaceful place to live, a little bit of heaven. My husband and many other family members live in La Manga. As my father always said, he loved his La Manga.
"Que Viva La Manga"!!!!!
