Bio

I am a Boy Scout and chose to complete my Eagle Project at the Sand Valley Cemetery. I have been in Boy Scouts since I was in the 1st grade and am currently a Life Scout. In April of 2012 I had just turned 12 years old when my life changed. My mom and I found my dad collapsed face down in our living room. Somehow my first aid training kicked in and with my mom's help we gave my dad first aid and CPR until the paramedics got there. It was a chaotic scene and I did my best to save my best friend but we couldn't save him. He had died a few hours before we found him. He was a great man and his name was Dean Allen Naylor. Shortly after his death I gave speeches promoting organ and tissue donation on his behalf. He was a tissue donor and was able to help others even after he passed away. My dad was also an Army Veteran. He didn't serve in any war but he was active military and was proud to be an American.

This gets me to my Eagle project. My dad was born and raised in Callaway, Nebraska. There is a cemetery west of town called Sand Valley Cemetery. It is an old cemetery without water and electricity and is roughly maintained. My grandfather, Elmer Naylor, and his relatives are buried there. My mom and I will bury my dad's ashes there soon. But first we want to beautify the cemetery by cleaning it up and put a flag pole and an American Flag up. We also want to try to get the Veterans in the cemetery medallions to put next to their headstones if they don't have them now. I am also going to geo-code all the headstones and take pictures then upload the information to FindAGrave.com. I have raised money for this project by recycling cans and other metals and received donations. Before I bury my dad I want the cemetery to look its best and I know that the flag pole with a beautiful American flag flying overhead would make my dad very proud.
