Bio

Master Carpenter/Woodsmith by day, avid genealogist at night.

Projects I'm working on right now:

Elliotts - Through William Atkinson Elliott and Elizabeth Atkinson of Washington Township, Pennsylvania, my Elliotts are branched from Thomas Henderson and Margaret (Harper) Elliott, who migrated to Edinburgh, Missouri from Beallsville, Ohio.

Browns - Through Joseph Brown of Bedford County Pennsylvania, Thomas Brown (a son of Joseph) married Mary Fluke. Their son, Levi Forney Brown married Eleanor Coffee (Logan) and they moved to Creighton, Missouri. Other branches of the family include Colvins, McNeals, Shores, and Goodes.

Gilmores - Descended from Patrick Gilmore, who served in the Revolutionary War. His son, Richard Gilmore married Elizabeth Wilson. Their son, John Westley Gilmore married Catherine "Katy" Darnell and both moved to Christian County, Missouri. Other Branches of this family include Lambs, Fosters, Lairs, McDaniels, Dickens, Mertens, and Winfields.

Maxwells - Earliest found ancestor is John Allen "Mac" Maxwell, who married Dorthy "Dolly" Walden. Hailing from Kentucky, it is possible John may be the son of John Maxwell, Sr ESQ, who was the founder of Lexington, KY, and an early pioneer settler and explorer of the state. John and Dorthy settled in Putnam County, Indiana, until their children, Allen Eldon Maxwell and James R Maxwell traveled to Boone County, Iowa, to take up land that was gifted to Dorthy on behalf of their father's service in the War of 1812. Not finding the land suitable, both sons traveled south to Missouri where in the 1860s found themselves fighting for the Union during the American Civil War. James was wounded at the Battle of Shiloh, and succumbed to his wound at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis. Allen E Maxwell settled near Albany, Missouri. It is through his son, Andrew J. and his wife Elizabeth (Sheely) Maxwell that I am descended.
