I always had enjoyed listening to the stories my grandmother, "Mom" Cobb Abner shared about her family from Knox County, Kentucky. I remembered stories of how her uncle was bushwhacked (her words) by Caleb Ledford, but I never asked why. Stories of how my grandfather, "Pop" Abner was shot at by whiskey making men and how she insisted they leave the mountains for Indiana.

I wanted to learn more about my people, so I could tell their stories to other family members. Along the way, I journeyed back to where they lived, visited family cemeteries, met people who have enriched my life much more than I could ever express.
