Remembering our ancestors and our relatives who came before us is the only way to truly honor the history of our families. Thanks to my paternal grandmother, Granny Jeanette, and my mother's maternal cousin, Lucille, I was given a treasure trove of information about both lines of my family.

Lucille spent decades researching and documenting our Short family line. One of my favorite possessions is an original old photo in a gray cardboard frame of Lucillle circa 1940; Mom gave it to me in 2022. Lucille is on my desk watching me and giving me inspiration.

Granny kept newspaper clippings, obituaries, prayer cards, letters/postcards from relatives, etc. Years before she passed, she gave me her father's Bible. It wasn't until many years after she had passed that I was showing my oldest son the Bible and inside we found handwritten notes about our direct ancestors dating back to the early 1800's. I knew then that I had to preserve my family history. I started with what I knew as fact and worked backwards from there. Granny was an excellent genealogist!

My oldest son, my oldest nephew, and the wife of my sister's son are very much interested in our genealogy. All my files, documents and memorials will be preserved by them when I am no longer able to maintain them. I have faith they will all continue this tradition honorably.

Although I am not a religious person, I am a spiritual being and I wholeheartedly believe that our ancestors deserve our respect. Without their strength and perseverance, I would not be here today nor would my children, my siblings, my cousins and my many nieces and nephews.

I have been fortunate to visit many states over the last several years. We always lay fresh flowers on the graves of our ancestors whenever possible.

I strive to ensure that my ancestors and relatives are correctly remembered. I would be very grateful and appreciative if anyone has information that can assist me in acknowledging their lives.

Although I only manage memorials of my own ancestors and relatives, I am happy to take on other graves and transfer management to their family members. I am a road trip gal and I would be happy to photograph your ancestors' graves if I am traveling near their burial sites. All you have to do is ask!

In closing, I would like to thank all the wonderful findagrave people who have helped me with this journey. The kindness and compassion shown by so many is priceless. You are all wonderful people and you will always have a special place in my heart.

Peace and love to all!
