Bio

I grew up in western Pennsylvania and now live in Lexington MA.

I'm researching my Struble and Buell family in southwestern Pennsylvania, and my Current and Merrick family in Kentucky.

John George and Fredericka Struble came from western Germany in 1817 to farm in what's now Herminie, Westmoreland County, PA. Timothy Buell came to Greensburg, Westmoreland County, PA around 1787 when the rest of his family relocated to British Canada. Around Ligonier, PA, Timothy's descendents included tradespeople, farmers, and a United Brethren minister. Around 1900 a number of young adult Strubles and Buells, including my grandparents-to-be, followed employment opportunities to the east end of Pittsburgh.

Thomas and Margaret Current, Scots-Irish, migrated from Baltimore to the bluegrass of Bourbon County, Kentucky, in about 1795. As a child in the 1840s, Charles Leonard F Merrick came from Germany to Cincinnati. After fighting for the Union in the Civil War, Charles married Mary Catherine Grampp, whose father came from Germany, on the Louisville or Indiana side of the Ohio River. Around 1900 my Current and Merrick grandparents lived in Louisville.

My information is work in progress. I try to make it accurate and well documented. When you find errors and improvement opportunities, please let me know. I'm glad to share information and materials. If you use these, I simply ask that you honor the spirit with which I offer them.
