Bio

I was born and still live in Phoenix, AZ. I started being interested in my family tree very early in life, by about age 12.
My father's family: Roach and McDaniel, all came from Forsyth County, GA. The family immigrated to the Arizona Territory in 1890 and settled in Glendale, AZ. My dad was born there, when it was still Arizona Territory, in 1898.
My mother was born in south Washington State, near Kelso, and was raised in Kelso and Portland, Or. But her family moved to the Northwest about 1899/1900 from the state of Kansas. Her father's family had moved to Kansas from Kankakee, Ill. Her mother's family had settled in Kansas in 1855: part of it was from a German immigrant, Louis Wise, who married an Irish immigrant, Anna Bridget Hastings. They made their home in Lawrence, Kansas. In Quantrill's Raid in 1863, Louis Wise was one of the men killed. It was that incident that got me interested in genealogy at such an early age. I am now 72 years old, and limited by physical problems, but still do computer research.
