I have been sporadically looking for ancestors for well into my second decade now. I am looking for descendants of Robert Butt of Norfolk, VA., who arrived in VA abt. 1640, possibly after a stint in Barbados with his brother James. My Butt ancestors left Norfolk for TN in 1814, then to Mississippi c. 1839. On my fathers side I am also looking for Smith (Carroll Co., MS; GA, SC/NC and prior), Baird (MS), McCutchen (MS, TN, prior) and Shelton (MS). On my mothers side the surnames are Duncan (VA and TN), Stiling (FL, MI and England), McAuley (MI, CAN, Ireland) and Cosby (VA, Ireland, England) for starters. I have some info on all these. I use FTM 17 and am currently a member of Ancestry.com.
