Bio

I was born in Charleston SC. I live in Aiken, SC. The earliest record I have of my great-great-grandfather Lewis Jones[1813-1858] is 1839 Darlington County. (Lewis Jones was born in North Carolina, whereabouts unknown at present.) In 1850, Lewis Jones possessed land in the town of Timmonsville Darlington County SC. He sold one acre of land to Dr. James Byrd to be used as a cemetery so I imagine Byrd Cemetery in Timmonsville marks the exact location. Lewis Jones married Emily Hill, daughter of Rev Amos Hill of Darlington County. In the early 1850s, Lewis sold his land and moved to Williamsburg County near the Coward and Scranton community. There Lewis' son Calvin[1856-1932] married Aily Lynch daughter of Daniel and Scynthia Lynch here. In the early 1920s, Calvin Jones moved back to the Town of Darlington. At the death of his first wife, he remarried to Sallie Lillian Smoot Truluck. This farm, still a working farm today, is positioned at the corner of Ebeneezer and Rogers Road in Darlington. My father, Frank Maxie Jones was born on this farm. My father joined the Navy "to see the world" ultimately retiring in Charleston, SC. I was born at the US Naval Hospital in Charleston.
