Bio
I am looking for Hescock (Hiscox) in the western US, although they come from Rhode Island (circa 1650), Massachusetts (circa 1770s) via Vermont and Ohio. Also have Groshong, Kentucky Richardson, Wells, Swearingen, Zumwalt, Texas Williams, Pumphrey, Hurlburt/Hurlbut, Updegraff, Pernell, and Maddox in the first 4 or 5 generations.
The family has been stuck for about 50 years on a Charles Williams, who may have been shot my his son for beating his mother. But it's less than a rumor. The son, Thomas Jefferson Williams was born in Big Sandy, Upshur Co., Texas on Nov 22, 1879-80. His mother was Nellie Pernell possibly from Alabama. If some of these names, or the story above, rings a bell, I'd love to hear from you.
