I have made a lot of progress in my own search this way. I have found the grave of my GGG Grandfather in California through the work of a Find A Grave volunteer.

Please note that sometimes, it is difficult to get a good photo of a grave as there may be a tree growing over it or flowers, etc. placed in front in such a way that it's physically impossible to get in a good position. Some graves/cemeteries are not well kept.
